What is Hypnosis:

Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state of mind; a natural state of selective, focused attention. Called by different names in different cultures and times, hypnosis has been recognized for thousands of years and used for many purposes. Everyone has experienced hypnosis, even if they were unaware of it. A hypnotic state can be reached through reading a good book or watching television. This is why a child seems not to hear us when watching a cartoon. A good example of a hypnotic state in everyday life is sometimes called highway hypnosis, a state in which a person can drive a truck/car for long distances, responding to external events in the expected manner and not remembering doing so.

The definition of hypnosis lists two parts, one is the bypassing of the critical factor, the second is establishing acceptable selective thinking.

The hypnotic state is a perfect state for making changes in your life. You can set aside self-limiting beliefs that prevent you from being a more healthy and happy you. Bypassing the critical factor gets us out from the grip of these beliefs by switching the focus and then establishes selective thinking through suggestion.

Our subconscious mind is not a factual database where one will find only the truth. Much of what we learned and interpreted during childhood is stored in the subconscious as a guide for the mind to protect ourselves, however much of this can be misinformation that develops into our fears, compulsory habits, and self-image. Hypnosis creates direct contact with your subconscious mind, allowing you to reprogram the unwanted behavior to reach your desired goals.
