The type of Therapeutic Massage we offer is based off a usual Swedish massage but the use of integrations allows for the better release of difficult knots, stretching, increasing energetic movement, and range of motion to all be achieved.  Therapists borrow from each modality as its required for each client’s unique need. We use the techniques learned over the years and effortlessly shift between modalities without breaking the flow or continuity of the treatment.

Massage Modalities Used:

Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is what most people think of when they think of massage. The massage can be light to firm, depending on the needs and comfort level of the client. The major strokes are long and circular. Swedish Massage is good for reducing muscle aches, improving circulation, and reducing stress.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage works to separate the muscle from the connective tissues of the body (the ligaments, tendons, and muscle casings, which ‘connect’ one type of tissue to another). When these structures get sticky and less elastic deep tissue bodywork helps to return these tissues to a supple, fluid condition.

Trigger Point Massage Therapy

Trigger Point Therapy, also known as myofascial release, is a form of massage specifically directed at loosening taut bands of tight contracted muscles that can cause intense pain. Trigger point therapy can provide effective pain relief for such pain.

A trigger point is simply a hardened band within the muscle on which there is a zone of intense pain. The hardened or taut band may feel like a pea buried deep in the muscle which maintains a hard contraction on the muscle fibers connected to it.

Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a form of Japanese bodywork based on concepts in traditional Chinese medicine. It improves the natural flow of ki boosting the body’s ability to heal itself.
Shiatsu relies on the use of fingers, thumbs and palming with pressure on the meridians to correct imbalance in the body. Pressure applied to tsubo points on the body promotes energy flow and corrects blockages throughout the client’s body. Shiatsu is a deeply relaxing experience which helps relieve stress, treat pain and balance the ki contributing to a client’s overall health and well-being.

Thai Massage

Thai Massage, sometimes called lazy man’s yoga, is an Asian floor technique combining Ayurvedic principles, and yoga postures. Thai incorporates stretching and smooth flowing massage strokes to stimulate circulation and flexibility. It is usually done in loose, comfortable clothing. This type of massage includes compression of muscles, mobilization of joints, and acupressure.
